ART OUTSIDE WORKSHOPS 2006
Workshop Overview
Each workshop will be about an hour in length for about 30 or so children and
their parents or guardian. There will be 4 to 5 workshops staggered throughout
the day on March 25th and 26th and April 1st and 2nd. At the beginning of each
workshop the instructors of the class will give a brief history about the medium
and information about the fundamentals of the process. A skilled demonstration
of the process will follow, then the children make pieces of their own! Workshops
are for children and adults; parent participation is encouraged! Below are the
workshops we've scheduled to host, and any level of your participation would
be appreciated. We're sure it's going to be a great event for all involved.

The Community Mural workshop: Brought to you by Jerry's Artarama
We will be Creating a large 2 dimensional painting with the involvement of numerous
participants, adults and children alike. An image unique to Austin will be chosen
and divided into a grid of about 100 rectangles. Each color rectangle will be
cut from the grid, placed on an index card and given to each participant. A
large intact photocopy of the image with the grid lines will be on display for
artist's reference. There will be limited palettes, brushes, water, and a blank
sheet of 8.5 by 11 canvas "paper" set up by the workshop leader awaiting the
participants. They receive the card upon arrival and, with assistance, position
themselves at a station adjacent to those working on neighboring rectangles
(this helps keep color and line placement referential). We will do this Sat and
Sunday of both weekends. In which case we would divide the grid into quarters,
finishing one quarter at each workshop. At the end of each workshop the grid
quarter will be laid out for the students to see results. We could do 10-15
kids, age ten and up, a workshop, up to 25 people total. By the close of Art
Outside the entire mural can be displayed and given back to Jerry's in an appreciation.
Each participant will return their index card with their name, age, and general
neighborhood (or town) from whence they came written on it. This way we create
a smaller "key" that displays the variety of participants who worked on the
mural.
WE are accepting donations of old t-shirts, socks, art supplies, egg holders,
paper, childrens musical instruments, beads etc. to keep the art workshops going!
a donation box will be located at the front of the Forest entrance marked ART
NINJAS. Thank you for your support.
